چکیده

Seed as a highly-valuable resource is preserved in collections for many years. Although the seed kept under optimal conditions, monitoring of germination and presence fungi during preservation great importance. Therefore aim this paper to examine health status 43 onion accessions timespan 15 years Institute Field Vegetable Crops collection. Germi?nation samples varied from 7-93%. The collection was determined on 33 tested samples. Fungi genera Acremonium, Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Epicoccum, Fusarium Penicillium were developed. following species identified seeds F. proliferatum, graminearum, sporotrichioides, solani, pseudograminearum equiseti. Based factor analysis, affected germination, while occurrence Alternaria connected year harvest.

Effect of Maleic Hydrazide on Respiratorion of Stored Onion Bulbs

The respiration rate (RR) (CO2 production), activation energy (Ea) and Q10 of maleic hydrazide-treated onion bulbs (Allium cepa, cv. Rouge Amposta) at 20.10-6 mol.L-1 (MH1) and 45.10 -6 mol.L-1 (MH2) were measured at 4, 10 and 20oC. Immediately after treatment, the Q10 of MH-treated and control bulbs were not significantly different. After 8 weeks of storage, Q10 of control and both MH-treated ...

Longevity of cryogenically stored seeds.

Though cryogenic storage is presumed to provide nearly infinite longevity to cells, the actual shelf life achieved under ultra-cold temperatures has not been addressed theoretically or empirically. Here, we report measurable changes in germination of dried seeds stored under liquid nitrogen conditions for >10 years. There was considerable variability in the extent of deterioration among species...

In Vitro Evaluation Of Selected Plant Extracts As Biocontrol Agents Against Black Mold (Aspergillus Niger Van Tieghem) Of Onion Bulbs (Allium Cepa L.)

Black mold disease caused by Aspergillus niger V. Tiegh. is the most devastating infection occurs in onions (Allium cepa L.) under field and store conditions. The use of biocontrol agents is ecofriendly approach for controlling seedborne and soilborne diseases compared to the use of toxic synthetic fungicides. This study has been designed to assess the contamination levels of onion seeds with A...

Detection of Seedborne Pathogens

Plant pathogens present a serious threat to seedling establishment and the potential for plant disease epidemics under greenhouse conditions is great. Hence, pathogen exclusion by detection and elimination of infested seedlots remains a requisite tactic for seedling production and disease management. Unfortunately, the numbers of contaminated seed within a lot may be low and infested seed may b...
